Christingle Service 2011

When the Christingles were given out, we stood around the hall, the lights were dimmed and sang Away in the Manger.

Adults and children spent a couple of hours making all the Christingles for the service on Christmas Eve.

Carol Singing

On Thursday 22nd December, a group went Carol Singing and collected the sum of £127.23 which will be divided between the local "Kings Cross" charity based at our sister church, Trinity Methodist/URC, which supports disadvantaged families in our area, and an orphanage run by the Church of South India in Durgapur. We have had several visits by the Bishop of Durgapur through his contact with our minister, Rev Neil Drayton. A group from the church will be visiting Durgapur in the summer and they will take our contribution to their cause.

Folllow The Star

After months of practising members of the church and friends presented the Family Christmas Musical "Follow the Star" on the 25th and 26th of November.

The show was enjoyed by all - the cast just as much as the audience. It was a huge undertaking with nearly 50 people involved in the cast/production team and other roles - but we all felt blessed by the exerience.

Guild Annual Trip

The Annual Guild Trip took place on 3rd September. A coach took us to Llangollen with a coffee stop at the Horseshoe Pass. From Llangollen we embarked on the narrow boat "Thomas Telford" for a two-hour trip, during which we were served with a ploughman's lunch. We travelled along the canal and over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct to Froncysyllte. The coach then took us on to Betws-y-Coed, with time for shopping, sightseeing and a light tea before returning to Widnes by a scenic route. It was a very enjoyable day. Thanks to Stuart, who organised the trip for us.

Family Fun Evening

On Saturday 9th July, a Family Fun Evening was held in support of two of our church charities. £230 was raised to be divided between Action for Children (formerly National Children's Home) and the Kings Cross Project, a local charity based at our sister church, Trinity Methodist/URC, which supports disadvantaged families in Widnes.

An evening of games and refreshment was thoroughly enjoyed by a wide age range of our members, as the photographs show.
